Vita:

Dr. Sybille Reinke de Buitrago studierte International Affairs mit Schwerpunkten auf Peace and Conflict Resolution und International Communication an der American University in Washington, DC. In 2010 promovierte sie am Institut für Friedens- und Konfliktforschung an der Universität Hamburg zur Dr. phil. In den USA war sie in den Bereichen Demokratieförderung und internationaler Konfliktlösung tätig.

In Deutschland arbeitete sie zumeist in Forschungsprojekten am Institut für Sicherheits- und Präventionsforschung in Hamburg, am Institut für Friedens- und Konfliktforschung an der Universität Hamburg und am Institut für Theologie und Frieden, sowie an der Universität Hildesheim und der Universität Bremen.

Seit April 2017 ist sie an der Polizeiakademie Niedersachsen, zunächst in den Forschungsprojekten PRAKOS – „Praktiken und Kommunikation zur aktiven Schadensbewältigung“ und VIDEOSTAR – „Videobasierte Strategien gegen Radikalisierung“. Seit Januar 2021 ist sie als Geschäftsführerin des Instituts für Kriminalitäts- und Sicherheitsforschung (IKriS) tätig.
